David Bollier

Independent Scholar

David Bollier is an independent American scholar, activist and blogger whose work focuses on the commons as a new paradigm of economics, politics and culture. He pursues this work primarily as co-founder of the Commons Strategies Group, an advocacy/consulting project, and as Director of the Reinventing the Commons Program at the Schumacher Center for a New Economics (US). Bollier has been integrating scholarship, public policy, education and strategic activism on the commons since the late 1990s, often working closely with many Europeans. He is regarded as one of the leading interpreters and creative advocates of the commons paradigm, and speaks often at conferences, colleges and universities, and private workshops. Bollier was awarded the Bosch Fellowship in Public Policy at the American Academy in Berlin in 2012.

Besides maintaining a widely read international blog, Bollier.org, he has written or edited eight books on the commons, including Think Like a Commoner: A Short Introduction to the Life of the Commons (2014), which has been translated into seven languages.
